Pre-Natal Pilates

We also offer General Pilates, Kiddies Pilates and Conditioning Pilates
Exercising during pregnancy lifts your spirits and prepares you for labor and childbirth. It is still, however, very important to be cautious during your exercise. Whether you are a reformed couch potato or a conditioned athlete, coming to a biokineticist can help you be healthy while keeping your baby safe.

It is important to first talk to your healthcare provider before beginning or continuing and even changing your exercise routine. Our main priority is to not put you or your baby at unnessecary risk. If you have exercised regularly before falling pregnant and the pregnancy is uncomplicated, you can probably continue exercising as before, with a few modifications. Unfortunately, in some cases it is just not okay to exercuse during your pregnancy, this is why speaking to your healthcare provider before commencing is vital.

Pregnant women can start at any time during pregnancy (with the approval of their health care provider – sorry but very important!) and can continue right up to the end of their pregnancy.

But why would you want to do pilates during pregnancy? Well during pregnancy, our good posture can deteriorate very easily, especially as the pregnancy progresses and our centre of gravity is moved forward. This is where the dreaded lower back pain can start, but also possible increased tension in the neck and shoulders.
When coming to see a biokineticist we will perform a thorough evaluation to get a good base level so we can ensure the exercise we prescribe you is the best possible program.
