Neurological Rehabilitation
Neurological diseases/disorders are diseases of the central and peripheral nervouse system. This includes diseases of the brain, spinal cord, nerves, and muscles (very broad view!).
These disorders include epilepsy, Alzheimer disease, strokes, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s diseasse, neuro-infetions, tumours, as well as traumatic disorders to the nervous system due to head trauma.
So why would you see a biokineticist?
Almost all neurological disorders share common signs and symptoms. These include loss of balance and coordination, tremors, numbness in extremities as well as rigidity in muscles.
Biokineticists main goal is to promote independency by preventing, decreasing and slowing further progressions in disorders. Using exercise movement, we can combat one of the most common symptoms of these disorders, depression.
Our primary purpose is to improve the quality of life of each person through exercise.
