Pilates
We also offer Pre-Natal Pilates, Kiddies Pilates and Conditioning Pilates
This is especially ideal for those healthy individuals who wish to improve posture, stability and flexibility.
Many injuries are caused by imbalances in muscle strength which in turn are caused by incorrect posture or movement patterns. These imbalances put too much strain on some muscles and cause weakness in others. Thus, our pilates aims to address and improve these imbalances thereby improving your quality of life.
Our approach is slightly different to other studios providing pilates. We utilize the traditional pilates exercises, but first we break the exercises down to the fundamental components and modify them to be suitable for each clinical population. This method is known as the APPI method, which is specifically designed for use within the rehabilitation setting.
We as biokineticists use segmental spinal stabilisation research and lumbar-pelvic stabilisation theory to help each patient through pilates.
We focus on identifying and correcting posture and incorrect movement patterns throughout our classes, helping you achieve the most from these sessions.
Pilates also steps in as a maintenance program, after undergoing rehabilitation at the practice for injury or surgery, pilates provides an affordable and supervised exercise regime so you can continue to improve.
The classes involve various levels of exercise in each session to accomodate every patient from beginner to advanced.
